Tree Planting 20th Anniversary Revisit

In 1990 WYCAA (Vancouver)  hosted the first International Conference held outside of Hong Kong . To mark the occasion we donated $3000.00 to the Vancouver Park Board to plant 3 mature trees in Vanier Park. We chose to plant trees as a symbol of Wahyanites settling and taking roots in Canada, growing in number and  stronger year after year. Two 10-year old , 20-foot tall trees (an oak, a maple) were planted in June, 1990. Father A.J. Deignan S.J. and Father Sean Coghlan S.J. were present with about 20 local Wahyanites for the tree planting ceremony. A third tree (a hemlock) was planted  a few months later.

The trees are now 30 years old standing tall, sturdy and strong in scenic Vanier Park. To mark the 20th anniversary we are organizing an outing on Saturday, July 17, 2010 starting with lunch in Kirin (Cambie & 12th Ave) at 11:00 a.m. followed by site visit to Vanier Park at 12:30 p.m. The objectives of this event, organized in memory of the late Ken Suen, WYCAA (Vancouver) president in 1990, are:

1. To show younger Wahyanites the location of the WYCAA trees

2. To take a group photo which will be presented  to WYCAA (Los Angeles) at the 2010 International Conference.

All members, their spouses, families and friends are invited to participate in the celebration of this important anniversary. Details are as follows:
